23rd Armagh International Road race

The 23rd Armagh International Road race was held on 14th Feb 2013. Conditions on the Mall were perfect for road racing – dry and cool with little or no wind. We had a good turnout of athletes, with representatives in most of the juvenile age groups. First up for 3 Ways was Aisling O’Callaghan in Race 2 (400m). Aisling came in in 8th position in a field of 87. Well done Aisling !!

Next up for 3 Ways were Odhrán Hamilton, Ultan O’Callaghan and Rio Rafferty-McConnell in Race 4 – the Boys 2003/2004 (1400m). All 3 lads ran brilliantly in a field of 159. Odhran finished a fantastic 2nd in a close finish, and Ultan came in 6th with perhaps the best performance by a 3 Ways athlete on the night. Rio followed closely in 15th place. Really good running by all 3 boys.

Olivia Hall and Caitlín Coffey represented 3 Ways in Race 6 – Girls 2003/2004 (1400m) and both girls finished together in 13th and 14th place in a field of 147. Excellent placing for the girls!

In Race 6 (Boys 2001/2002 1400m), Cathal Brennan and Eoghan Magee ran in a field of 112 and were placed 4th and 34th respectively. Again, great running lads. Cathal had ran in the Ulster schools cross country the previous day, so taking this into consideration it was a really good performance.

In Race 7 (Girls 2001/2002 1400m) , Gemma Doyle finished 22nd, Sarah Finnegan came 25th and Tara O’Neill placed 28th in a field of 103. Good team running girls to finish within 6 places of each other.

3 Ways final athlete on the night was Clíodhna Doherty in Race 9 (Girls 1999/2000 2400m). Clíodhna finished 8th in a field of 35 to complete a night of excellent running for our athletes. Their performance reflected the effort they put in in training, and with continued effort they will continue to improve.

Well done to everyone from the club who took part. Your coaches and parents were very proud of you all!
